Precious gift

Last Friday, Colin and Aidan had concocted a birthday surprise for me which apparently I ruined. That Friday, The two of them had an appointment with a mystery lady for my birthday present after I do the usual car and Aidan swap at Col's work. However, because Aidan had decided to do a huge vomit (which freaked me out really badly), I chose to stay home instead of attending my uni tutorial. Naturally Col told me about the surprise and called me party pooper.

This appointment was then moved to the following day and all of us went along. Even though it wasn't a surprise, it was still a very sweet and lovely present. It is very special because Aidan sat on Col's lap and made it for me.

Single or Double???

If you look very very closely at Aidan's eyes, you will find he has one double eye lid and one single eye lid. I have been told that most babies starts off this way, and eventually they'll get TWO double eye lids. However, yesterday when Aidie cried so hard, the double eye lid had disappeared!!!!!

Where did it go??
will it come back???
stay tuned.... for the mystery to unravel...

Playing with Tigger

The one with the immunization

Like every other 2 months old babies, Aidan must face his first gruesome challenge - the double needle immunization horror. Actually, I think I probably feared this event more than Aidan. Anticipating a screaming baby who might come down with a post immunization fever.
As always, the doc was fashionably late. Hence, we waited and waited for about 40 minutes before we were seen. As the time went on, Aidan grew more and more restless. Then the restlessness turned into hunger and he became slightly grouchy in the waiting room. During the immunization, to my surprise, Aidan took it quite well. The oral medication went down without too much trouble and the two jabs that he had only produced 2 short screams.

In the waiting room.. waiting

Waiting....

Still waiting...

After immunization, we went to meet daddy for lunch. He was of course fashionably late as well. So, we waited and waited in the car and became slightly bored so we took more photos.

Thumb sucker and battle of the crap

To my delight, during nappy change in the morning, Aidan discovered his own fingers and started sucking them. He has learnt how to self sooth, which is a great thing because Colin and I are having this long debate regarding dummy use. Even though I've secretly given Aidan the dummy, he doesn't seem to like it much (Colin must be feeling smug right now). So now, instead of screaming like mad when he is hungry, he chews on his finger a little while before the scream comes out.
mmm.. finger licking good....

Aidan and the dummy police

From a few weeks after birth till now, Aidan has developed a minor case of cradle cap (aka cradle crap from Mich, it is indeed crappy to deal with). His scalp is crusty and flaky. After googling remedies and found that many parents have suggested that by putting olive oil or sorbolene cream on their baby's head then brush with a soft brush and wash with shampoo, they've managed to cure their baby's cradle crap. We've decided to marinate Aidan in sorbolene cream, but had skipped the brushing bit because as a crazy paranoid mother, I fear that it might rip his skin off. So.. after many days of marinating, smelling like rotten veggie, and looking extremely greasy (by the way the greasiness reminded us of this mattress salesman in Boxhill shopping centre. Please feel free to check him out. He is located near the Target store). Aidan's cradle crap seems to have eased a little. Needless to say, we became lazy and thought the crap might disappear by itself and hence, stopped marinating his poor scalp. Lo and behold.. the crap came back more crusty and more flaky then ever! Yesterday during the shopping run we've picked up a bottle of J&J baby oil to try try again and this time we won't slack off. Why not olive oil you asked? Once again as a crazy paranoid mother who doesn't like a smelly son, I fear it might fuel his rotten veggie smell.

Josh's 1st Birthday Bonanza

In order to prep for Josh's first birthday bash, the whole family slept in till 11am to make sure we have plenty of energy to party (we are just all lazy really.... ). The venue for the big bash was Templestowe Hotel. When we arrived Adeline, Happy, Michelle and little Cameron also arrived in a very very pretty white BMW M3.
Arrival at the party scene, with aunty Michelle and Cameron

Aidan sat next to Cameron during the party and stared at Cameron while falling asleep. Cameron on the other hand was busy eating broccoli and secretly trying to pass them to Aidan under the table.

Cam: So Aidan... why are you still so small?
May I interest you in some broccoli to help you grow?

Cameron busted for trying to pass on broccoli to Aidan

Cam: No Uncle David, I am not giving this broccoli to Aidan

Aidan eventually got really tired and fell asleep in the pram. I must also mention, Aidan has recently upgraded from the bassinet to a pram seat. He also leveled up in the nappy size - from Huggies newborn to crawlers (crawlers seems a bit big but the newborns can no longer hold the amount of liquid he is producing, hence resulted in lots of late night accidents!).
During the party, the fashion police caught baby Max in the same outfit as Aidan. So naturally they have to be kept apart! (It was actually more the fact that Aidan was sleeping all the time and stuck at one end of the table. While baby Max who arrived late, sat at the opposite end of the table.) While the party went on for another 2 hours, Aidan was quietly sleeping in the pram. He missed all the excitements and photo opps.

Meanwhile.... all this is happening right next to him..

Cam: look Josh, balloon up high.. woohoo
Josh: I've got my own balloon...

Josh: This is too much fun.. I think we should cut my cake now...
Cam: Shhh.. don't tell Aidan

Josh: Yeb... this is MY cake! It has my name on it.

Aidan eventually woke up when the party ended and discovered it was time to go home.

"Thanks for inviting us to your party Josh and thank-you for the party gifts AND
a very happy birthday to you!"
