Aidan's room

Aidan had his 18 months check up with the health nurse last Thursday. As usual I didn't book Aidan in on time and he went in at 20 months instead. Aidan's height and weight was once again in the last percentile but his head circumference was in the 25th percentile. Yeb.. he is built like a lollipop. The nurse confirmed that Aidan is very healthy. However, she cringe when I told her that Aidan is co-sleeping with us. She frowned and shook her finger at me (like the way I shake my finger at Aidan when he is naughty) and said *tsk tsk tsk* "no no no.. co-sleeping at his age will disturb you and him and you HAVE to move him into his OWN ROOM.."

We have been co-sleeping with Aidan since he was 7 months and this only happened after we traveled to Taiwan and back. This somehow was the trigger point of no return and every time we talked about moving Aidan to his own room. We somehow convince ourselves that we needed to co-sleep with Aidan (please note: most of the convincing came from Colin though). I ended up convincing myself to move upstairs to my own room since a few months ago. The sleep has been pretty bad for me because I am a light sleeper. Aidan likes to kick me when he sleeps and I somehow end up lying half on the railing net and half in bed (the railing is really to prevent me from falling off the bed). He also does the usual 360 spin in bed type of sleeping as most kids do.

Even though Colin has changed our sleep formation and decided to sleep in the middle of the bed to stop me from getting kicked. But of course as predicted, he is just as a bad sleeper. Two nights ago, during his sleep, he decided to resume the thinking man position and rose in the middle of the night to perch his elbow on my belly whilst holding his chin. I of course woke up and slapped him across his head and he fell back on to his pillow continuing to sleep. As usual the next day I was accused of dreaming up things again.

From that day onwards, I made an executive decision that I need to be in my bed without Aidan and with Col way on the other side of the bed. Today, I took the initiative to start decorating Aidan's room and also recruiting his help. This hopefully will entice him to sleep in there by himself in the future. Also to aid my plan of putting him to sleep in that room during his midday naps.

Decoration in progress...
